The o rgan iza t ion of the knowledge, process i n g , and p a t t e r n d e s c r i p t i o n is decomposed i n t o the l eve l s shown in Figure 1. The l o g i c a l s t r u c t u r e of the problem is captured in the m u l t i p l e l eve l s o f pa t t e rn d e s c r i p t i o n s , and in the corresponding knowledge and processing components which operate on those d e s c r i p t i o n s . Each l e v e l of d e s c r i p t i o n of the problem has some meaningful i n t e r p r e t a t i o n in the problem domain.
